Alap, jor, jhala in Raag Malkauns (69:16)

The record label says:
In the old days, when the most classic of the north Indian music forms, Drupad, was played in the courts, the singer was often accompanied by the ancient string instrument, the Ruda Veena. No more so during the last 100 years. But - here is a unique recording from a private concert in 1968 with the greatest maestro on the instrument, Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar in his own house in Chembur, Bombay 1968. He is playing jugalbandi, a duet in the old way, with his brother vocalist Ustad Fariduddin Dagar. Together they give us Raag Malkauns, a late evening raga with only five notes, and for more than an hour fills it with beauty that should appeal not only to the lovers of Indian music but just as much to a lover of Arvo Pärt or of New Age. This is meditative music for real.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
