"The overall effect is a CD that's fresh and lively throughout, bringing an innovative approach that works really well." - Gordon Potter, The Living Tradition

"Here's a fine selection of tunes and songs from one of Ireland's finest box players: David Munnelly. By Heck is a natural follow up CD to his debut: Swing. Although Munnelly is what one would call a "young musician", he has a partiality to the music of the early 1900's. The style is definitely "retro". Most of the tunes are traditional and arranged by Munnelly. There is room for a couple of his own compositions too. Munnelly is a great box player, but he also knows how to play the piano which he shows on the songs on the CD. There are three songs and two of them are sung by Andrew Murray who is a great singer with an outstanding voice. He sings "P Stands for Paddy" and Richard Thompson's "The Dimming of the Day", which is a beautiful song when it's sung by the right person. Helen Flaherty sings "The Garden Valley" by another great song writer: Dougie MacLean. As if all this wasn't enough Munnelly has also incorporated a set of tunes from Quebec and he definitely also masters that particular style. As with all modern recordings of French Canadian music these days there's a horn section added. Here the whole horn section is faked by Richie Buckley on soprano and tenor saxes. There's a vast array of different musicians on the CD - too many to mention, but of course the three from Munnelly's touring band play on most tracks: Daire Bracken: Fiddle; Kieran Munnelly: Flute, Bodhran; Gavin Ralston: Guitar. All this, plus a number of traditional tunes make this a powerful CD well worth listening to." - THE PENGUIN REVIEW - Mich G. Nielsen—Denmark

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
