The band says:
Mandrágora is a name of a plant that possesses fertilizing and aphrodisiac virtues, a medicinal root whose fruit, identical to a small apple, exhales a strong and fetid odor. The root of the plant has the form of a human being and in the popular belief, the mandrágora cries out as if human when it is pulled out of the ground.

Mandrágora is also the name of young band from O'Porto, Portugal, that distinguishes itself by the creativity of its original compositions, evoking the Portuguese musical tradition while exploring other cultures, revealing a great diversity of modern influences.

The self-titled CD Mandrágora (Zounds/Sabotage) was awarded the Prémio Carlos Paredes 2006 by the City council of Vila Franca de Xira, acclaimed by the critics as the best album by a Portuguese group in 2005. The Paredes prize is given to bands that play Portuguese folk music, that reinforcees the nation's cultural identity.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
