Press info:
Most excitingly and for the very first time, after residing fifteen years in Australia, on 3
Nights Zulya sings her own songs in English. For listeners and fans familiar with Zulya’s
music who until now have enjoyed her songs in Russian and Tatar – the communication
of its meaning and emotion going beyond language – this prospect is very exciting.
Zulya and the Children of the Underground released their 1st (and Zulya’s 4th) album, The
Waltz of Emptiness (and Other Songs on Russian Themes ) in March 2005. Since then, the
album has received amazing coverage in major press around the world, including a
glowing 4.5 star review from German Rolling Stone. Songlines (UK) described it as
‘Antipodean brilliance’ and awarded it 4 stars.
The album spent 4 months in the top 20 of the European World Music Charts after its
release in Europe in March 2005 and even entered the top 10 (July, ‘05), which brought
this album to the position 23 out of 1051 submitted to the panel over the whole year – a
feat never achieved by any other Australian album!
3 Nights is set to follow up on the successes of The Waltz with thirteen beautiful new songs.
Originally from Tatarstan in central Russia, Zulya is familiar to audiences throughout
Australia as a performer and interpreter of traditional and original music derived from her
Tatar and Russian cultural roots.
Zulya and the Children of the Underground create a unique sound derived from the
combination of the melancholy, beauty and drama of Zulya’s distinct ive song-writing
with the extraordinary musicianship of her Australian band members (Anthony Schulz –
accordion, Lucas Michailidis – guitar, Andrew Tanner – double bass, Justin Marshall –
drums, percussion).

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
