The band's press release:
The theme of this CD is the magic horse that frequently appears in Nordic mythology. The album features some surprising sounds and a deep bass boost from the recently introduced sub contrabass recorder. Although this is the group's most ambient, modern, and rhythmically varied album yet, it remains deeply rooted in the Nordic vocal tradition. Instrumentalists as multi-talented as the members of Gjallarhorn are able to create astonishing soundscapes within the radically different conditions afforded by live and studio performance.

Having celebrated their 10th Anniversary in 2005, the ever-vivid Gjallarhorn introduced a new member to their line-up. Swedish musician Göran Månsson has joined the group with his special instrument sub-contrabass recorded, a one and half meter long natural subwoofer.

The new drone instrument will substitute old Gjallarhorn trademark, the didgeridoo, blown by Tommy Mansikka-aho on 1996–2004. Apart from the sub-contrabass recorder, Månsson plays smaller recorders as well as traditional flutes.

Vocalist Jenny Wilhelms says that the recorder suits better the current Gjallarhorn sound. "The development of our music took us to more solistic direction, in which every member has bigger role melodically as well as rhytmically. We did want to maintain the typical Gjallarhorn drone bass, and the sub-contrabass record fits perfectly offering more subtle bass lines. On top of that, we have more room for sound variation with the traverse and other wooden flutes."

Jenny Wilhelms is the only original member of Gjallarhorn, which started performing traditional ballads of the Swedish-speaking minority of Finland, and which more recently has become a world music melting pot of all-Nordic influences. Gjallarhorn features also Adrian Jones, viola and mandola, and Petter Berndalen, percussion. Martin Kantola is the group's sound designer.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
