The Great Polka Swindle (Westpark)

The band says: "No Polka - no fun! Without Polka there is no TexMex, no Merengue, no Ska, no Punk, no - I don't know what. Firstly: no Rock'n Roll. - What, you didn't know that?"

They do it all... and more, with high energy, great musicianship and lots of attitude.

The band says:
In March 2001 in Berlin, eight musicians, well-known on the scene, acknowledged their already advanced Polkaholism. These POLKAHOLIX admit, after the first introductory drugs – Rock, Ska, Balkan music, German Folk and Klezmer – they are now totally addicted to 2/4 time. This drug is produced from hits and standards which are checked for Polka-suitability by the addicts, and, if necessary, forced sadistically into a Polkaholistic form.

They have re-animated the Polka tradition of Berlin, understandably in their own way. 2/4 time and off you go – this is Berlin-Speed-Polka.

The songs are well-known. Every German has hummed, sung or danced to them. New, however, is the way that they are presented by these Polka-maniacs.

Germany, Bohemia, the Caribbean, Rock & Roll, Africa, local pub atmosphere, all that and more appears at some time and, mixed with each other, drags the listener into a grandiose sense of well-being and makes one addicted.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
