The musicians:
Johan Decanq: bagpipes, schalmeien & diatonic accordeon; Pieter Decanq: voice, tamborine and violin; Sammy Lee Daese: flutes, schalmei & piano; Eduardo Vega: electric guitar; Jeroen Goegebuer: violin; Luc Vandestock: bass guitar; Pros Deblaere: percussion; Andreas: drums.
The band says:
Early 1999 the Dranouter folk festival, Johan Decancq, Sammy Lee Daese and Greet Gariau (Fluxus) received an invitation to play two memorable concerts in Rumania (Praid & Tirgu Mures), the land that now can well and truly be called the spiritual cradle of Follia!
Under the Romanian sky and nurtured by the richly flowing Chuika, this crossover concept where folk and jazz musicians combine the best of both worlds, finally came to full bloom. Follia was created in September 1999 by Johan Decancq, Sammy Lee Daese and Pieter Decancq and with the support of the Dranouter folk festival.
Own lyrics as well as old European lyrics (e.g. from the book of songs by Jan Frans Willems – Flanders, 19th century) are skilfully used as a blue print for Follia! sound. The classical Jazz education and the inspiration taken from the folk world's best musical examples are only the pepper and salt in the rich, spicy and adventurous dish that is Follia! Slow ballads, sparkling songs with orientally inspired incantations, ancient lyrics on a background of psychedelic distortions of the violin; Follia! has it all and brings an irresistible and very exciting mixture of music and dance.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
