Tracks:
Sigurd began to play the fiddle already in his boyhood and learned first from his father. Later he also learned from his grandfather, the well-known fiddler Sjur I. Eldegard (1834–1920). As a young boy, Sigurd dreamed of being a great fiddler, traveling around the country and holding concerts. A great fiddler he was, but the fiddle mostly sang out in the living room at home at Eldegard. At the end of each work day, Sigurd sat down on the woodbox in the living room and fiddled. These fiddle times were welcome interludes in his otherwise tough and strenuous daily life as the farmer at Eldegard.
Sigurd was not a competition fiddler, but he occasionally participated nevertheless. He especially thought that the national competition (Landskappleiken) was interesting, and he was often there in the audience. On the other hand, he often played for wedding dances and other gatherings in Årdal and its surroundings. Sigurd was one of the founders of the Årdal Spelemannslag (Fiddlers’ Club) and was its musical leader for some years.
Early in the 1920s Sigurd took over Eldegard, a mountain farm with no access roads, electricity, or water. He was a livestock farmer, with goats, cattle, pigs, and horses, and he made superb fruit and vegetable gardens. More than 150 acres of fine pine forest belonged to the farm, and Sigurd built his own sawmill at Eldegard.
In 1921 he married Jensina Tomasdotter Holseter (1891–1926), and they had four children together: Sverre (1922–1989), Olaug Maline (1923– ), Torolv (1924–1983), and Svanhild (1926– ). Jensina died after only five years of marriage, and Sigurd lived the rest of his life as a widower.
Sigurd died October 1, 1962, and was buried at Farnes, Årdal.

Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the

pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
