Lukkeleg vaking (Ta:lik)
This trio of women is rooted in traditional Norwegian folklore, but their performance is so much more. Without resorting to much more than the basic trio of voices, accordion and fiddle, with minimal vocal contributions from Aasmund Nordstoga and from Gabriel Fliflet, whose influence is clear in the playful and surprising approach they take to the simplest of arrangements - the accordion occasionally sputters cleverly, the fiddle moves from sweet to menacing and the voices turn from airy to earthy on the turn of a dime. Far from 'experimental,' these changes are natural, personal touches one should expect from folk music. This is a remarkable debut for a unique Norwegian trio. Highly recommended!

In their own words:
The Norwegian folk music group had their first concerts as students in The Norwegian Academy of Music in 2000. Since then they have been performing in several festivals and concerts in Norway, Belgium, France and Vietnam, and they are gaining more and more popularity.
Their music is basically traditional Norwegian folk music which they arrange and make into their own, special sound. Lately they have also started composing their own music.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
