Vårdal and AnderssonFinnskogen brinner (Ta:lik) In the large deserted woods on both sides of the Swedish-Norwegian border, Finnish people settled down in the 15th- and 16th century. These areas are now called "Finnskogen", the Finnish woods. The settlers came from difficult times in Finland, and burned down forest to cultivate rye in the ashes. In these vast forests it was hard to tell if you were in Sweden or Norway. Culture does not know borders either, and the music is a common Swedish- Norwegian tradition. Patrik and Vegar have, with their energetic dance music, been the center at many dance occasions. In several years they have played together and learned each other’s style of playing, to the finest detail. The two fiddles melt together to one sound, with a light creativeness, improvising harmonics where they take turns in playing first and second voice, followed by the energetic, almost ecstatic, rhythm. Many of the tunes are archaic with their blue notes and often rough bowings, but they can also be soft and subtle.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
