Zambush - Zambian hits from the 80s (Sharp Wood)
$18.99
The electric music of Zaire and Zimbabwe from the 80s may be well in the West, but music from Zambia is not always so easy to come by. Zambia's had always had a vibrant and diversified music scene has always been vibrant and diversified (due in part to a 1970s law that dictated that 90% of the music on the Zambian airwaves had to be local) and during the eighties yet another new musical era emerged - the kalindula years, when rural dance music from all over Zambia went electric and these songs became the big hits of the time. While the overall sound will remind the listener of Zairean and Zimbabwean music of the era, the rhythms are disctintive and the sound has its own local quirks. Zambush offers 10 tracks in 70 minutes of rough and tumble electric roots. Good notes included in English.
