Andy Palacio and the Garifuna CollectiveWátina (Cumbancha / Stonetree) Belize music star Palacio's first US release is an all-star affair that shows off the diversity of Central America's Garifuna culture in a contemporary tour-de-force of melody and rhythm. Musicians include the legendary godfather of Garifuna music, Paul Nabor and producer/musicians Ivan Duran. Each track on Wátina is based on a traditional Garifuna rhythm and all of the lyrics are in the Garifuna language. Make no mistake, this is not archival folk music or an acoustic recreation, but contemporary pop based on the deep roots of central American history.

The artist says: The idea of the collective has been a long time in the making. The chemistry of working with different Garifuna artists, not only within Belize but also from Guatemala and Honduras, was quite appealing and very satisfying to the soul.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
