Yiota Vei was born at Platistomo, a province of Lamia, and lives in Athens. She grew up with Greek traditional singing that she learned from her grandmother. She is self-taught, but the strength and purity of her voice are indeniable. This CD is a collection of Byzantine songs she has collected and interpreted, accompanied by a small ensemble of violin, clarinet, lute, dumbek, tambourine and other percussion.
She was an integral member of the Philippe Eidel project, Mammas. The CD includes notes in Greek and English, including song translations.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
