Yes, this is an odd one; a Spanish release of Greek artists. The package is gorgeous (as is the case with most recordings from the Resistencia label), with a large, beautifully illustrated booklet; the catch is, it's in Greek and Spanish. BUT the music is incredible and at 20.00 it's a really good deal, I think, with 43 tracks of Greek roots music from the most traditional to the very contemporary, from big names like Haris Alexiou, Mikis Thodorakis and Kristi Stasinopoulou to a large number of artists both old and new that will be a revelation to all but the most dedicated fans of the music. Laika, rembetika, folk ballads, rock and pop are all represented, all with an ear towards tradition.

Some of the artists also on the set: Maria Farandouri, Yorgos Koros, Banda Florinas (the amazing brass band from Florina), Elena Legaki, Melina Kana and Savina Yannatou.
