The record label press:
At the beginning it was just a duo (vocal/ santoor & percussion) formed by Jahiar and Agnieszka Sylwia Ko?czewska. Their first concert took place on "Radom Folk 98" festival where they were very well received.
In September 98 duo transformed into quartet. Two new musicians joined the band: S?awomir ?ukasiewicz (guitar) and Kurtmolla Abdulganiyev (accordion) - Crimean Tatar from the music school of Bahchisarai.
In December 1998 the band won the third prize on "Miko?ajki Folkowe" festival in Lublin.
In 1999 they played a series of concerts in Poland and abroad: Sopot, Gryfino, Za;bkowice S'l., Cze;stochowa, Warsaw, Kalisz, Frankfurt am Main, Erfurt.
In August the same year the group was enriched by a percussion player Rafa? Maj and in September S?awomir ?ukasiewicz was replaced by Agnieszka Tomala.
In December 1999 the band played again on the festival "Miko?ajki Folkowe", but this time they won the first prize for the best folk / world group in Poland.
In the middle of last year Jahiar Group recorded material in Cracow?s studio "Inigo", which is released by ORANGE WORLD.
JAHIAR AZIM IRANI - born in July 1969 in Tehran (Iran). A vocalist, santoor player, composer and writer. He was raised in a musical family: his father was a singer, his mother a gaval player. Jahiar learned singing from his early years. His father was his first teacher. At the age of 9 he started playing santoor - led by a great master: Ali Asgar Zayadzand.
His characteristic, powerful voice was received with respect not only in Iran but also in Turkey, Afghanistan, India and Syria (where he lived for a longer time). In Damascus Jahiar played in a band together with an oud virtuoso Khaled Fuad Heidar.
In 1997 invited by Polish people he met in Syria, he came to Poland where he lives at the moment.
