Please note!
Most of our CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. I guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
Thanks- Cliff, cdRoots

 Linnaeus Vasen - Vasen $14.99 (cdRoots# ns-6093)
On the 300th anniversary of the birth of botanist, physician and zoologist Carl Linnaeus, known as the father of modern taxonomy, Väsen was commissioned to arrange music to mark the occassion. Virtually all of the source material they used is traditional music from the period and region of Linnaeus's life, including pieces writted by his brother-in-law and by a cousin, and pieces newly rediscovererd on Linneaus's own restored "barrel organ." The trio invoited their percussion collaborator André Ferrari to join them on the quartet's first new studio album since 1999.
Beyond the Stacks - Aly Bain and Ale Moller $12.99 (cdRoots# ns-6094)
Scottish fiddle master Bain and Swedish multi-instrumentalist Möller have been exploring the Nordic roots of Scottish music together for over ten years, and this is the second CD to come from this collaboration. Mostly fiddle/mandola duets are a culmination of Bain's extensive research into the Scandinavian history behind so much of the traditional music of his native Shetland Islands, and Möller's creative arrangements. It is a masterpiece of understatement, a relaxed session between friends who anticipate oneanother's every phrase and respond with passion. Highly recommended.
 Vasen Street - Vasen $13.99 (cdRoots# ns-6096)
The Swedish acoustic trio celebrates 20 years together with 16 tracks of all original new tunes. Includes "The Late Waltz", "Yoko", "Rob's Polska", "Absolute Swedish", more.
 Eight Seasons - Marie Boine $13.99 (cdRoots# ns-boine8)
Boine's most high-tech recording to date, relying heavily on synthesizers and drum loops, will probably make this her most popular recording in a while.
 Jumping at the Cedar (Live - 2 CDs) - Hoven Droven $19.99 (cdRoots# ns-hoven2)
The Swedish folk/rock quintet Hoven Droven is finally captured live, the way they really need to be heard to appreciate their raucous, rocking version of nordic roots. Recroded at the Nordic Roots Festival in 2005 in Minneapolis. That entire concert is captured on 2 CDs, in all its glory.
 Prototyp - Hurdy-Gurdy $12.99 (cdRoots# ns-hurdy)
Stefan Brisland-Ferner of Garmarna and Totte Mattsson of Hedningarna, both masters of the Swedish hurdy-gurdy, come together to demonstrate the range and power of this ancient, versatile instrument. Exclusively using sounds generated from hurdy gurdys, they play, process, sample, and tweak both traditional and original tunes in innovative and provocative ways. Not for strict traditionalists!
