Listen: Cascahl Alko Malamanha Vida de Pauc The artist says: I chose this title for my personal workfield, which includes all my topical personal projects, from solo concert to recordings. I have not published a CD under my name since Jan de l'Ours in 99. I put in "bastian contrari" original pieces, the most recent, and unpublished. My sources are diverse, often unidentifiable. They went through an game of estrangement, a respectful diversion or a forgetful digestion. The instrumentals are built around gaming systems and a personal mixture of plectrums, with songs whose texts were chosen to fit the music. The arrangements emphasize the change, playing on the edge, sometimes harsh timbres, in careful arrangements. I am loyal to my musical beliefs : non-demonstrative virtuosity, non-accessibility, intelligible language without vulgarity, etc. If I am the composer, author and arranger, I am also the ubiquitous musician. Like all discs, it is a beautiful lie, because I was able to play all the roles, superimpose my parts, hold a dialogue with myself. But I also invited friends: the essentials of percussionist Bijan Chemirani, the unpredictable guitar of Serge Pesce, impromptu participation of Benjamin Novarino-Giana (from Cor de la Plana), who came as a neighbour. Finally, an essential part of the work is based on achieving collaboration with Lucien Massucco, who makes his complicity in the music as much as in technique. - P. Vaillant
