Tenores di Oniferi
Polyphonic Singing from Sardinia
out of stock
The rich tradition of polyphonic singing in Sardinia dates back thousands of years. Today, this music is kept alive by quartets known as cantu a tenores. The music is rich in harmonies and overtones, and sung poetry may be set or improvised on the spot. Tenores de Oniferi are among the best Sardinian vocalists of this rich tradition.

| "...the Oniferi singers are younger, faster and harder ... both more suited to a 'World Music' audience and closer to (my experience of) the tradition... [a] rougher, harder sound... I would strongly recommend this record to anyone with an interest in Sardinian music - and to anyone else with a fascination for the wonderful things that four human voices can do together." Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
