To presume that folk music is only performed on the violin and the key harp, would be a fallacy in today's fantasy world of various types of fusion music embracing folk music. Nevertheless, can it be possible to perform folk music with two saxophones and a trumpet and have it work? Well, according to Ale Möller, Sten Källman and Thomas Ringdahl who are three of Sweden's most talented and most well known folk musicians, nothing is impossible.

For many years, Möller, Källman and Ringdahl have discussed the possibility of making a tribute to two of Scandinavia's most well known folk musicians and composers: Hans W. Brimi from Gudbrandsdalen in Norway and Röjas Jonas from Darlarna, Sweden. Both of these great talents have had an incredible influence and inspiration for generations of folk music enthusiasts and they were able to perform their music with charisma and and a fevered energy. Röjas Jonas, who died in 1989, was a fiddle player. Hans W. Brimi, is still alive and active performing with his fiddle to listening publics all over Scandinavia.

On this album, these three gentlemen pay tribute, while approaching the composition which were originally arranged for the fiddle - with saxophones and trumpet. It is an unconventional way to approach the compositions, however, the results are exciting. These arrangement pumps new blood into the songs and the heart of the album pounds passionately. It is a unique approach with brilliant respect. Möller, Källman and Ringdahl have broke barriers within the modern Swedish folk music scene. Together these three were some of the driving force behind FILARFOLKET, one of Sweden's biggest folk music groups ever. Filarfolket won a Swedish Grammy in 1989 for "The Best Folk Music Album" and various prizes on an international level. Ale Möller has two albums of Nordic music out on the prestigious jazz label - ECM. VIND is more than a tribute album. It is in all sense of the word a living folk music album performed with daring hearts and imaginative minds with their respectless respectfullness based on a great tradition.

Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
