Press from the record label:
In spite of his youth (he was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1976) Hamilton de Holanda is acclaimed as one of the most extraordinaire mandolin virtuosos of all time. A rising star of always busy Brazilian Choro scene who reunites on his music all the wisdom of the traditional performing patterns of the genre with an inextinguishable yearning for new artistic and aesthetic horizons.

A first taste of the unbounded talent of Hamilton was (and still is) Dois de Ouro, the project in which he’s involved with his brother Fernando César, a gifted guitar player. But probably is on his solo performances and recordings where his endless creativity and flawless playing shines at its most beautiful expression. It’s in albums like “Música das nuves…” where he freely flows from the genuine spirit of vintage choro to a kind of new thing that could easily be the genre’s upcoming new shape. It’s there where Hamilton gets imbibed by warm Latin influences and the structural exuberance of jazz-spirited compositions. And it’s on his solo recordings where his able to play such astonishing rendition of Contramilonga a la funerala by Astor Piazzola as he does in this record and put it side by side with the greatest name of Brazilian music (Guinga, Baden Powell, Toninho Horta, Edu Lobo, Djavan…) into a natural, fluent way.

There’s always music talent coming out from Brazil and promising emerging artist demanding the attention of critics and public. But very few has raised with the squashing strength of Hamilton de Holanda. He really deserves all the praised he’s been benefit with on his own country. Now (specially since he has moved to Paris) it’s time to reach the whole world by storm and we have no doubts he’ll get all success on his proposal.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
