Traditional Galician instrumentation (tambourines, gaitas –bagpipes-, pandera, etc), Celtic legacy and ancient melodies are on the base of Fia Na Roca's rooted music. But the band has found their very own style and personality by adding diverse influences coming' from widespread sources. On their songs you'll find echoes of jazz, a strong rhythm section talking a language close to funk and rock, avant-garde elements and unorthodox instrumentation including Oriental percussions, piano, saxophone, bouzouki…
Fia Na Roca commemorate it's tenth anniversary with a live album recorded in Santiago de Compostela, the band's hometown. On stage no special guests, just the ensemble members playing well-known songs for the public and a few surprises and new compositions. "Dez Anos Ao Vivo" ('Ten Years Alive') gives us the chance of experimenting one of the most seductive experiences in Galician folk and meeting an inspired and extremely creative band.
Take a look at the most influential World Music polls and charts and you'll easily realize the most successful bands in the field of folk are those which not only are respectful of tradition but those trying to brought new influences and a personal view to ancient rules. Some may talk about crossover or fusion but there's something deeper inside. Bands like Fía Na Roca ('Spin in the spinning wheels') understand there's no evolution in immobilism; not much creativity in simple repetition; low interest in conventionalism, no future without innovation
Thid idea has always been present in their former releases and its ten years long career. Fía Na Roca's proposal is as much about the past as is about the future. The ensemble is one of the most influential and respected in Galician folk scene. Well-regarded by critics and public all around the world (their previous albums are available in many countries), Fía Na Roca has played a major role in the current invigoration of roots music in their homeland. For more than ten years they've been in the forefront of an scene that has provide with many names constantly taking Europe markets by storm (Mercedes Peón, Os Cempés, Carlos Núñez, Susana Seivane, Milladoiro, Budiño…).

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
