"Nidi D'Arac is the sound of a revolution in Italian music" - Lee Blackstone, RootsWorld

Press sheet from the record label:
In the music of the Italian band Nidi D'Arac lives the past and the future in a perpetual fluid and nimble dialogue. Their songs are paths linking the ancient and the upcoming, the sound of days passed long time ago and those still waiting for us. In Nini D'Arac's music there's all the wisdom of lost times and memories just as there's the boldness and daring of youth, everything perfectly balanced in a tasteful concoction that has seduced the Italian public intensively. In fact, so intensively that their success has exceed the limits of a nice surprise to become one of nowadays European world music scene strongest phenomenons.

The roots of their proposal digs profoundly in the traditional music and folklore of the Salento area (the heel of the Italian boot). The band, lead by multi-talented Alessandro Coppola, turn it eyes to the ancient rhythms and hypnotic percussive edge of the pizzica tarantata, a close relative of famous tarantella deeply influenced by the music of the Balkans and Middle-East. But together with their love for the songs their ancestors sung and danced, the proposals of Nidi D'Arac members includes an ambitious plan: to chisel a brand new face for a music which origins are already involved in the shadows of time. So, they come back to the primitive, to what there's of tribal ritual in Salento's music and translate all these feelings into a new language made of poetry, tradition and innovation. Nidi D'Arac has dressed pizzica tarantata with the sounds of modern urban surroundings, from drum'n'bass and sophisticated trip-hop to rhythmically wild breakbeat. The Italian band has looked in the vaults of popular culture to find the elements that make up the unbreakable chain which units tradition and the newest expressions of contemporary music. In this research they've discovered a common denominator in the strong, yet melodic, percussion rhythm which induces to a kind of trance dance. World beat talkin' about the Salento culture to the Global Village, electro-folk driving the rural imaginary to the dancefloor.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
