Press release from the label

Making a film is like making a journey, but on my journey, I’m interested in the departure, not the arrival. My dream is to make a journey without knowing where to go, perhaps without even arriving anywhere….”- Federico Fellini

Harmonia Ensemble's journey began several years ago with the music Nino Rota wrote for Federico Fellini's films. A by now historical record that opened the way in Italy and in Europe for many re-readings of the great composer. The search then continued in numerous concerts in Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Italy in a work of continuous evolution of the original scores.

Progressively, the project transformed into a homage to Fellini, to his cinema, to his dreams. The music became increasingly the music of Orio Odori, Damiano Puliti, and Alessandra Garosi (Harmonia's three soloists) which accompanied a performance and a video organised by Giampiero Bigazzi: a suite of sounds and images put freely together, a miscellany of noises and visual fragments connected to the ambient and atmospheres that made Fellini and Italian cinema famous during the epoch of his greatest successes.

For years Harmonia has been making an original and adventurous "procession", completely autonomous in the irregular world of 'other' music, whether contemporary, chamber or minimalist, jazz or popular, working on material by Frank Zappa, Gavin Bryars and Roger Eno as well as on their own compositions. The arrangements and musical visions of "Fellini" form the seventh chapter of this journey.

Guest performers on the record: the percussionist Paolo Corsi (by now a permanent collaborator with the group), the Archæa Strings Orchestra, Paolo Faggi and Stefano Bollani (unusually on the accordion). The cd includes a multimedia piece by Pier Luigi Andreoni with two extra musical tracks, various news and a videoclip from a live performance.

Preface by Vincenzo Mollica.
Production and direction of this film for your ears by Giampiero Bigazzi.

"…fuori pioveva forte.
Forse proprio per questa ragione atmosferica Federico mi ha detto:
Tonino, ma non vedi che noi cerchiamo di fare gli aeroplani
e che non esistono più gli aeroporti?…".

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
