The record label's press says:
The EVA Female Vocal Quartet is comprised of four young solo singers from the
world-famous female choir "Le mystere des voix Bulgares" and is led by its
conductor, Milen Ivanov. With this project the singers have been enchanting
audiences in concerts throughout Europe.
The new CD contains a wide range of ethnographic music and newly arranged
folkloric pieces, presenting a good idea of the Bulgarian music which is
so rich of folklore elements.
For this project we have the presence of two of the most creative Bulgarian composers and jazz musicians.
Veselin Nikolov, one of the founders of the new Bulgarian jazz of the 60s,
has written a piece in the tradition of the old Bulgarian music of the IX
and X centuries, especially for EVA Quartet.
Antoni Donchev, composer and jazz musician of the younger generation, has
arranged a famous old folk song for EVA.
There are also two compositions by the late Bulgarian composer Ivan Spassov.
With the song 'Ibish Aga' the quartet offers one of the highlights of the CD.
The recording of 'Harmonies' aims at a pure vocal quality and was completely realised without any effects or computer. It is a recording of accomplished art singing, music that will get under your skin.
