Press from the record label:
After releasing the "Vektløs" (Weightless) CD on the KKV label in 2002, Kari Iveland is now presenting music new and old from Madagascar, the first time music from this large island off the East-African coast is reaching a wider audience. Man's wanderings across this earth have left many impressions and on these journeys songs have travelled across oceans and continents and been heard and recreated far from their origins.

Such are the impressions we are reminded of when we hear Kari Iveland's new CD.

She has travelled to Madagascar and found new versions of the songs Europeans exported more than a hundred years ago. Just listen to traditional songs such as "O store Gud" (How Great Thou Art) or "Eg veit i himmerike ei borg" (I know a Castle in Heaven) as performed by a Madagascan choir to understand that there is a relationship between soil and soul.

Through this CD you will experience the incredible power of music as performed by a Norwegian singer, four Madagascan choirs, two Madagascan instrumentalists and four Norwegian musicians joining forces to present a Madagascan, Norwegian and international repertoire. The Norwegian musicians are Anders Rønningen (guitar, valiha), Rune Arnesen (drums), Sveinung Hovensjø (bass) and Øivind Christiansen (harmonium). The four Madagascan choirs are Anakoro, Feon `ny fifohazana Mahavatse, KTKT and Lova. The two Madagascan instrumentalists playing flutes and drums are Patrice Ratsimbazafy and Jean Batiste Ranaivoarisoa. The CD has been recorded in the Cathedral in Tulear in cooperation between Det Norske Misjonsselskap (the Norwegian Missionary Society) and KKV.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
