It was in our youths that we first came to know Niyazi Sayin and Necdet Yasar; as a voice unknown to us, but whose influence we felt. When, in the Conservatory, we began to perceive the power, balance, vast knowledge and artistic genius in the music of Niyazi Sayin and Necdet Yasar, we understood that we were witnesses to a phenomenon. The opportunity to gradually discover and come to understand difficult-to-find recordings was to be a great influence on our future musical lives and artistic preferences.

In addition to their individual performances, Niyazi Sayin and Necdet Yasar's joint performances, displaying an unprecedented depth of expression and understanding of makam, have built a bridge between Tanburi Cemil Bey with his new dimensions of performance, and the present day. Each one of their performances have encouraged both of us and paved the way for us toward new horizons in our individual musical evolution and the richness of our work together.

In view of the difficulty we experienced in locating these recordings, for you to be holding this album in your hands is for us a dream come true. Though the recordings are varied in quality due to differences in recording conditions, these are like dust of time on precious jewels. Ears that can hear, hearts that are aware, have always noticed the shine of this treasure, and always will.

Yes, it has always been our dream, and now it has come true.
