Victoria Jordanova
Outer Circles (Innova)
$15.99
Victoria Jordanova is an astonishing talent, more than just a harp player. Her music is haunting, heartbreaking even. The tones are surreal, eerie, barely discernable as a known instrument at times. The main piece, “Outer Circles” (43 minustes) is a about the 9/11 tragedy. Saying that it is a hard subject to tackle is the understatement of the century (this or last), but tackle it she does. Dark, brooding, yet with a strange and shimmering beauty illuminating hope underneath it all.
The second piece “I Campani” (11 minutes) is a mix of bell sounds recorded during a recent residency in Italy, mixed with harp and electronics. These ancient-modern instruments meet to create depth and warmth. To describe this music is not only to describe the most poignant moment in your life, but all aspects of it at once.
About the artist:
Victoria Jordanova was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Her education and her career have made her a truly international artist. She received her early musical training at the Belgrade conservatory where, at age seventeen, she earned a diploma in composition, piano and harp. Graduate studies at the Paris Conservatory (on a fellowship from the French government) followed her B.A. degree from Michigan State University. Also in France, she was an Artist in Residence at the Cit Internationale des Arts. After special studies at the Moscow Conservatory, she returned to the U.S. on a Langley Fellowship to New York University where she received her M.A. in Musicology. Recently Jordanova was awarded The Bogliasco Foundation composer's Fellowship. Victoria Jordanova also established the ArpaViva Foundatiun Inc., dedicated to providing access to the highest quality music education to children, regardless of their economic status.
Seeking to recapture the spontaneity of expression that characterized her early music making, Jordanova relocated to San Francisco where she is pursuing a career as a composer and an improvisor. Melding experimental techniques and electronics with classical training Jordanova creates graceful and surreal expressions.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
