They have adopted the motto made famous by Goran Bregovic: "Far better is the Romany brass music, which plays out of tune, than a precisely performed Madame Butterfly bound by routine."

Ahmed má hlad is a quirky, contemporary street band that focuses on the mythical journeys of its bass guitarist into Russia. It's a cinematic work, but full of theatrical bathos, high handed rhythm and wry musical humor.

The CD includes a lot of computer-based extras (text in Czech) with lots of pictures of the 'journey' and the band, and a full compliment of MP3 files of the songs ready made for your IPod.

The press from the label:
Ahmed má hlad is directing far and more to the east or the Panslavism in practice

The new second ordinary CD by the band Ahmed má hlad is called Magadan. It is also the title of the second song of this album, which is about the journey of the band's bass guitarist into this distant eastern port of Russia. On Magadan the authorial songs of the members of the band (especially clarinettist Mikuláš Kroupa) in ethical spirit a bit surprisingly prevails over the original folk songs from Macedonia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Poland and Moravia. Ahmed remained faithful to its old inspiration by the Balkans and east and it musicalized in its authorial opuses especially the Slavonic folk texts (Ukrainian, Byelorussian, Russian, Serbian, Croatian, Polish and Macedonian) in "Ahmedian" way, i.e. as the authentic folk wedding (or funeral) band. Raw and earthy arrangements and unrestrained musical expression moreover give rock and punk drive to the Ahmed folk songs. Curiosity of the album is the participation of the guests from the famous Prague families: we know the names Kroupa, Matásek and Ornest from politics and theater.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
