MaracaMaraca are from the Czech town of Zlin. Fronted by singer Gabriela Plíšková (who also plays violin and viola), the ensemble presents instrumentation new and old, local and global, including guitars, oud, percussion, didgeridoo, cello, saxophones, Pan pipes, clarinet, flutes, French horn and bass guitar. The sound is distinctly jazzy, almost lounge lizard in its cool. Here they set to music the works of Portuguese author Fernando Pessoa, futher cementing their placeless, timeless and rootless cosmopolitan approach.
