Karim BaggiliDouar (Homerecords) $17.99 Guitarist, oud player and composer Baggili was recording this solo album at the same time as his previous ensemble release, Cuatro con Cuatro, but the offerings here are distinctly different - sparse, inquisitive, full of virtuoso fingerwork, accompanied only by an occasional conga or cajon.

About the artist
He'll be in several projects: "Ereska Trio", "Colette", a play. He'll work with "L'Orchestre de Chambre de la Néthen", and with singers for children like, Christian Merveille, Yvette Berger, Raphy Raphaël... In 2000, Karim won the first price of the "Open String Festival" in Osnabrück.
His first CD was released in 2002 and he takes part in many CD recordings. He composes the music of several documentaries and one short film.
He's playing now with several groups like "Traces", "Dazibao", "Turdus Philomelos". He also plays with jazz pianist "Nathalie Loriers" and takes part on stage and in studio with an english singer, "Melanie Gabriel". He has recently played on stage with "Philippe Lafontaine". The CD's of all those groups are going to be released very soon.
He brought together great musicians for his new band: "Karim Baggili Quartet" where he plays all his compositions inspired by flamenco music, south americans rythms and one of his origins: arab music. They already gave many concerts, have been part of "Entre Vues" 2004 and made the Jazz Tour des Lundis d'Hortense beginning of this year. The Karim Baggili Quartet CD "Cuatro con Cuatro" will be released beginning of december 2005 and will be followed by a tour in Belgium. Label: homerecords.
A cd (solo) "Douar" has been released in Germany mid-november by "Acoustic Music Records" (German label). The release is followed by a tour of nine dates in several towns of Germany. The event is called "The International Guitar Night". This cd will be available in the Benelux spring 2006. Karim also performs often in solo or in duets with his percussionist Osvaldo Hernandez Napoles.
"Aton Lua" is his brand new project; a mixture of rock and world music where he sings (in French, English, Spanish, Arabic and Serbo-croate) and play the electric guitar, the flamenco guitar and even the luth (oud). A demo of this project is already available.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
