Les Yeux Noirs, French for "The Black Eyes," takes their name from the title of a Russian gypsy tune made famous by Django Reinhardt in the '30s. It's the perfect name for this French sextet and its unique blend of Gypsy and Yiddish music topped off with a dash of Manouche jazz. Violinists Eric and Olivier Slabiak founded Les Yeux Noirs ten years ago. The band combines violins, cello, accordion, electric guitar, cimbalom and electronic samples to create music that is emotionally charged and brimming with life. Balamouk, Les Yeux Noir’s first album for World Village, as well as their 2002 US tour were met with widespread acclaim including 2 separate NPR features. This new live album catches the band at their best, entertaining the crowds with a joyous combination of technical wizardry and powerful, sensitive vocals.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
