Press from the label:
When Rajery was just eleven months old, he was taken to a wedding ceremony where an old woman handed him a piece of poisoned meat. "I took it in my right hand," he recalls today, "and it stuck in my throat. Afterwards, my fingers on that hand became shrunken. A couple months later, they fell off. My hand was gone." In spite of this seemingly insurmountable challenge, at the age of 14, Rajery decided to learn the valiha, a tubular harp made from a large bamboo stalk and bicycle brake cable strings. Today he is considered one of the most innovative valiha players in the world and a powerful progressive force in Madagascan music. With his new album, Voluntany, Rajery and his band have created an album of a rare spiritual and musical depth. They also succeed in their “fanamby” (which means bet or challenge) by creating an explosive fusion between the musical heritage of Madagascar and their own personal artistic expression.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
