Press release from the record label:
Watch out, the mischievous album Le Sacre du Tympan (The Rite of the Eardrum) has landed on our shores. Under the non-control of bassist Fred Pallem, this big band disc offers the listener an explosive cocktail of skillfully mixed compositions and unbridled improvisations. Winner of a prestigious 2000 “Concours de Jazz de la Défense“ award, Le Sacre du Tympan, will impress you not only by the musical maturity of the young and audacious performers but also by the fascinating brew of tunes they have concocted. Maliciously inventive, their music is inspired by Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington, TV and movie soundtracks,(Nino Rota, Tex Avery), rock & pop (The Shadows, Georges Brassens) as well as contemporary classical music (Charles Ives). The result verges on Zappa-esque, but goes beyond and literally charts new waters thanks to Pallem’s wit and his musicians’ amazing talents.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
