cd cover Moussu T et lei Jovents
Forever Polida (Chant du Monde)
$17.99

Marseille's folk-pop troubadours Moussu T et lei Jovents (Mister T and the Youngsters) present their pateneted mix of charming songs, idiosyncratic vignettes of Marseille life and Occitan culture, with a dash of Recife and Brazil's North-Eas. These are catchy, hook-filled ditties, presented in the same quirky fashion as their cdRoots fave CD, Mademoiselle Marseille, evoking the unique character of France's 'second city' in glorious fashion. Tatu, Blu, Zerbino and Jamilson have crafted another work of artistic joi de vivre. Highly recommended!

The band says:
Moussu T e lei Jovents consists of the founder of Massilia Sound System together with its guitarist and a famous Brazilian percussionist. The group takes its inspiration from Marseille in the thirties, a veritable musical melting pot, where Provençal songs could be heard alongside local operettas by Vincent Scotto or the black music bursting onto the scene at the time (i.e. blues and jazz, with music from the West Indies and Brazil too). This provides the background for the group's new, up-to-the minute songs, sea and harbours shanties that reek of the briny air, shipyard cranes and rocky inlets. A new repertoire to match the coastline of this part of the world, from Marseille or La Ciotat, a true blend of old and new, local and universal, full of nostalgia and foot-tapping rhythms !

Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
