While there are clear if somewhat elongated ties to the Gypsy brass bands of eastern Europe, the Rajasthani variety stands alone for its unique and powerful sound, its unique mix of instruments and its general exhuberance. The instruments include the usual tubas, trompets, trombones are augmented by searing reeds and wonderful singers, all driven by a percussion section.
