Chante Violeta Parra (Daqui)
Violeta Parra was a notable Chilean folk musician and visual artist, and inspiration for the Nueva Canción Chilena. Her most renowned song was 'Gracias a la Vida," which was dedicated to the love of her life, Gilbert Favre (of the Bolivian folk group Los Jairas). It was popularized throughout Latin America by Mercedes Sosa and later in the US by Joan Baez. On this album, her son, vocalist Angel Parra, pays tribute to her by re-interpreting fifteen classic songs. Choosing Matias Pizarro's piano as his sole partner, hebreathes new life into Violeta Parra's wonderful songs.
