This unique label is based in Tehran, Iran. Their goal is to bring together Iranian musicians of all types, traditional and modern, with their counterparts around the world, to make a unique and joyful noise. Their recordings are like few others in the world, and I am very preleased to present some of the remarkable music form their catalog.

The unique nature and culture of the fascinating Island of Qeshm (in the Persian Gulf), with its strong influences from Iranian, Arabic as well as East-African traditions is explored by an impressive groups of musicians including Mohammad Reza Alogholi, Saeed Ansari, Christophe Rezai, Peter Soleimanipour, Reza Asgarzadeh, Ali Boustan, Frahad Asadian and Karan Homayounfar. They offer personal interpretations on these cross-cultural roots.

The 21st of June is 'The Day of Music' in France, a phenomena that is spreading and now more than 100 countries are celebrating music on this special day. Hermes Records of Iran and the Cultural Center of the French Embassy celebrated by organizing a live concert at the Niavaran Cultural Complex in Tehran. This event offered a remarkable opportunity for these two ensembles to come together and share their cultures and talents, to make a whole new music full of rich drones, Persian percussion and strings, and European jazz.

During May and June 2004, everal concerts in Teheran focused on meetings between Iranian artists and European artists Bazar Bla (Sweden), Hamon Martin Quartet (France), Christophe Joneau Trio (France), Persiano (Iran, Norway). This recording features both indivdual works and jamm-session collaborations among the artists.
 Endless Vision - Hossein Alizadeh and Jivan Gasparyan $17.99 (cdRoots# hm-endless)
Live recording of 2 world-renown artists, Hossein Alizadeh from Iran and Djivan Gasparyan from Armenia, recorded outdoors in Tehran on September 4-6, 2003 before an audience of 12,000. They were accompanied by Vazgen Markaryan (bass duduk), Afsaneh Rasaee (vocal), Hoorshid Biabani (vocal), Armen Ghazaryan (duduk), Ali Boustan (shurangiz), Mohammadreza Ebrahimi (ud), Ali Samadpour (dammam, udu, vocal) and Behzad Mirzaee (daf, tombak).
