Di Grine Kuzine
This German band's roots are in klezmer, but their branches reach far beyond to Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and much of Eastern Europe. The ensemble is:
Alexandra Dimitroff, accordion & vocals
Johannes Kevenhörster, clarinet & soprano sax
Karel Komnatoff, trumpet & fluegelhorn & vocals
Mr. Steve R. Lukanky, tuba
Snorre Schwarz, drums & vocals
While they are well versed in the tradition, they offer a personal and sometimes wild interpretation of the music.
More by Di Grine Kuzine
"...dynamic and temperamental, sexy and groovy,
danceable and surprising. Or, to phrase it
shortly and sweetly - as an invitation:
absolutely worth a listen."
"Raucous and unruly, "Feribot" is not traditional music. It's more like very hip village music played by urban post modernists. Or as the band says in the album's liner notes "On this ship there is room for you all". - Aaron Howard, RootsWorld
"... playful irony and refreshingly original arrangements ... When Alexandra Dimitroff delivers heart-wrenching Balkan ballads in her powerful voice, then you wish that she’d never stop. Thus every concert from this busy band becomes a vibrant dance party for their audience of enthusiastic supporters from all generations..." - TIP (Berlin)

Please note! Most of our CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and we are not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever we can, we used recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
