"Overall, Herrelaus is a set of highly varied, carefully constructed, and wonderfully executed tunes. Yggdrasil is rooted in the Norwegian and Swedish tradition but not at all afraid to innovate. Listeners will be impressed by the beauty, as well as the occasional hint of humor, of this understatedly complex release." - Ted Swedenburg, RootsWorld

The band's own bio:
cd cover Yggdrasil was founded in Bergen - Norway by Elisabeth Vannebo and Erlend Eide autumn 1993. Eight and a half years later, in 2002, Truls Barnung and the two founders are the only three left of the six original members. In the beginning Yggdrasil played folk music from Balkan, but they early started to arrange norwegian and swedish tunes making them their own. Their Swedish drummer has also, since he joined the band early in 1996, influenced the band in "eastern direction".

Yggdrasil has played on radio and TV, and their debut-album, "Herrelaus", was released on the Norwegian label Heilo/Grappa in 1998. Yggdrasil has a.o. played at Odense Folkfestival (Denmark), Nattjazz in Bergen, Vinterspillene at Lillehammer and Haugesund Roots Festival. They have also toured the most of Norway including the colony Spitsbergen/Svalbard. Yggdrasil's music can be put in the bag; World Music, and the bands sound, due to their instruments and instrumentalists, has made them very popular among their loyal audience.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
