Skrekk
Skrekk (Grappa, Norway)
$17.99
Skrekk presents dramatic Norwegian folk music. Two singers, Tone Juve and Camilla Granlien, accompany themselves on double bass and cello, while Åse Teigland enhances the atmosphere with her fiddling. The members of the group are intrigued by the powerful stories and melodies of the old broadside ballads popular in the 1800s, and served the same purpose as today's tabloid press. The tales they related were often dramatic: crimes committed in the heat of passion, ghost stories, robberies and tragic love stories were depicted in a direct and detailed fashion, often with a moral at the end. The group brightens up the mood of its concerts with amusing or lyrical songs, usually accompanied in sparse, often quite unusual instrumental settings that act as an often literal soundtrack to the stories. On some songs, ome additional instrumentation (including natureal sound effects, percussion, bouzouki and such) was provided by Anders Røine and Audin Strype

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
