Evald ThomsenEvald Thomsen (1913-1993) was one of the greatest Danish fiddlers in this century and one of the most inspiring musicians and characters of Danish traditional folk music. This set includes 15 recordings made by Annelise and Thorkil Knudsen between 1963-80.
This collection offers jigs, reels, galops, waltzes, and solo 'listening' pieces from the Himmerland, Vendsyssel and Skørping areas of Denmark, played by one of the masters of the art. Solo and trio fiddle pieces amd some guitar-fiddle duets are presented by Thomsen and his partners in a glowing set of tunes. Any interested in the Nordic fiddle and dance traditions should add this to their collection.

| "The "Lydbilleder" album by the late Evald Thomsen blows the cover off this under-publicized style and blew me away. The pieces were recorded between 1963-80 with many informal, live cuts at a restaurant and folk music festival. Thomsen's playing is more driving than any Scandinavian fiddlers I have ever heard. The bowing fairly explodes on many cuts. Even the waltzes are amazingly energetic." Stacy Phillips, RootsWorld |

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
