Tumult is a unique band with their very own style created by and made up of a team of talented and skilled young Danish musicians with different musical backgrounds evolving around the charismatic violinist and singer Jørgen Dickmeiss. At the music academy on Funen, Dickmeiss - with solid support from experienced Danish folk musicians - became absorbed in the Danish folk music and -ballad tradition. It was the encounter with these traditions which ultimately led to the idea of Tumult. The idea of "playing some hip Danish folk music with a modern sound", as Dickmeiss puts it. In 1999 Tumult was formed - using as their main source of inspiration Dickmeiss' vast self-composed and traditional repertoire - and enthusiastically threw themselves onto the Danish music scene. They were well-received by their audience and in 2001 their debut CD "Wallegnav" was released.
"Wallegnav" was an immediate success in Denmark as well as internationally, and Tumult crossed boarders and toured in Sweden, Germany and Holland. The same year Tumult represented Denmark at the 22nd EBU (European Broadcasting Union) Folk Festival in Kalaka in Hungary and here their concert was transmitted to millions of European radio listeners. In 2002 Tumult visited Russia several times to deliver an ongoing row of compact, sweaty and energetic gigs to a fully enthusiastic audience on various scenes in Moscow The same year the band was nominated for the Danish Music Award (Danish Grammy) as "Danish Folk Artist of the Year" for the "Wallegnav" CD.
Right now Tumult is ready to release a fresh and complete repertoire: A number of songs and melodies will very appropriately experience their first performance at the Tønder festival's 30th anniversary in August 2004, where the CD also will be launched. Yes, Tumult is a very special Danish band with its very own style and they have with "Kværn" (grinding mill as used to grind pepper or flour) recorded a smasher of a CD. Listen to it, play it for your friends and before you know it the band will be doing a gig close to your neighbourhood and so see you there! - Morten Alfred Høirup, musician, composer and music journalist.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
