The musicians say:
'Det var en Lørdag aften' (On a Saturday night) is a bittersweet love song, and probably the most popular of all Danish ballads. She´s waiting for her lover, and every time she hears a knock on the door, she hopes it´s him. But he doesn´t come to her this Saturday night, and neither does he come to church the morning after. 'You didn´t come to church/for you are in love with someone else/and you´ve forgotten me'. At every step her heavy tears fall on the church path as she makes her way home alone to hide away the red ribbons that he gave her when they were betrothed, and she asks bitterly, 'How can you pick roses where roses do not grow/and how can you find love where love no longer dwells'?" - H&H
"Lys contains a number of tunes that are new to us, including the 4 minute and 40 seconds long set, 'Morrisfield/Møller´s Trekant/Fire Mands Reel'. The first two tunes are by Harald and the last one is a traditional Danish reel. The beautiful menuet, Menuet du France, is traditional Danish. We never played this tune before going to the studio, but we already love it very much. The second take was just the way we wanted it, so that is the one you get on the CD!
Also by Haugaard and Hoirup:
Om Sommeren (2004)
Duos
Let's Dansk! (live in Germany-2001)
A M Hoirup: Vingarden
Also music by Serras (with H Haugaard)
| "their music as a duo is breathtaking ... They are without doubt one of the very best folk fiddler/guitar duos in the world. I know only less than a hand full of fiddle/guitar duos of a similar calibre." – www.folkworld.de |

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
