"Baltinget is a chapter by itself in Danish folk music. (…) probably the most professional and progressive band offered in current Danish folk music." - Danish magazine Folk&Musik. "A warm and inviting collection of Danish traditional dance tunes from innovative fiddle, accordeon, guitar, double bass and percussion quintet, Baltinget. Their approach to arranging traditional tunes is fresh and invigorating, seamlessly blending Cajun, Spanish and jazz influences into the mix; Kaptajn Bille og Jordomsejlingen, Taprisør and Svenske Niels Hopsa are memorable examples. A natural feel for light and shade takes them on an emotional rollercoaster through slow, beautiful melodies such as the reflective Lang Menuet and the melancholic Falken (written by Baltinget's guitarist Klaus Ravnsborg), to uplifting, energetic dances including the Reventlow Jigs and the Berggren Reels. Baltinget are one of many bands that have been creating a buzz on the Danish folk scene of late, along with the likes of Phønix, Instinkt and Haugaard & Høirup, and with nominations for Danish Folk Album Of The Year and Danish Folk Instrumentalist Of The Year (fiddler Tove de Fries) in this year's Danish Music Awards, they look set to continue breathing new life into traditional Danish folk music." - Sofi Mogensen, fRoots |
The band says:
Since 1992 Baltinget has been in the lead on the Danish folk scene and has performed successfully at almost all Danish folk festivals as well as numerous festivals abroad: e.g. European Broadcast Union Folk Festival 96, Tønder Festival 96 & 98. Recently: Folk Fest Dranouter (Belgium) 2002.
Baltinget turns the venues upside down with their dynamic, intense and swinging music. The strength of traditional Danish music merge with modern music in compositions by the band as well as new, exciting interpretations of traditional tunes.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
