Acetre
Barrunto (Promusica - Extramadura, Spain)

Formed in 1976, Acetre concentrates on two musical fronts: enhancing traditional music and composing new works with deep traditional roots. They see their music "an heridatary language to which we contribute a particular semantic." They get their inspiration from the oral traditions of Extremadura and then adapt them, infusing old songs and forgotten tunes with a new feelings and emotions. This is decidedly contemporary music, at times modern and lush, interesting and beautiful.

The come from Olivenza, Badajoz - historically and geographically linked to Portugal and a culture which has lingered for centuries under the shadow of the Iberian frontier. You can hear Extremaduran perantones, rondas, tonadas festivas, pindongos or alboradas as well as Portuguese verdegaios, fados, corridiños, etc in their music, building a virtual bridge between Extremadura and Portugal.

About Acetre
Acetre was formed in 1976 and passes through different stages which in the last few years has concentrated on creative music focusing on two fronts: to enhance traditional music and compose new creations where the presence of an ethnic element is important.

They feel music as “a heridatary language to which they contribute their particular semantic”.

Their work, intense as ever, begins with a careful investigation and selection of topics that they themselves collect from the rich oral traditions of Extremadura. They readapt them, enrich them, infusing songs and old forgotten tunes with a new breath of fresh air that communicates with feelings and emotions of the public in an energetic concert.

Their town of origin is Olivenza, Badajoz, historically and geographically linked to Portugal and a culture which has been generated over the centuries under the shadow of the frontier.Due to this fusion of cultures you can listen to Extremenian perantones, rondas, tonadas festivas, pindongos or alboradas as well as Portuguese verdegaios, fados, corridiños, etc in their concerts, establishing a virtual bridge between Extremaduran an Portuguese traditions, or in other words, with themselves and their roots.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
