Romano Drom remixes
NO LONGER AVAILABLE
I usually hate this sort of thing, so it comes as a surprise, even to me, that I decided to put this particular DJ mix set into the catalog. Maybe it's the source material, maybe it's the weird diversity of styles that the various bands and DJ's have used to create the sound, but somehow it works most of the time, in trippy, trendy and often surprising remixes of Gypsy music. - CF

The record label press:
The Romano Trip project was born of several people coming from different cultures and connecting through music.
How did it start?
An American guy fell in love with a Hungarian girl and decided to check out what Hungary was all about. There he met a theatre director and DJ deep down in the underground of Budapest. Based on his idea and partnering up with their Irish friend they all started working on the concept of uniting traditional dance and folk music with the modern world.
From Budapest's talented creative pool, DJs were rounded up, music was made, a CD compiled and a theatre performance put together around the music. This was the first release of GypsyHouse Recordings 'Etchno' the electronic re-thought of Eastern European folk music. Then a French girl fell in love with a Hungarian guy and she settled in Hungary. She happened to be the manager of one of the most exciting Hungarian gypsy bands, Romano Drom, who also participated in the theatre show built around Etchno. Romano Drom thought for a long time about working with DJ's. When the protagonists finally met it was clear that something should be done. The DJ's were happy to follow this unusual path of remixing the beautiful melodies of Romano Drom - filtering the alive gypsy rhythms through their chemical brains.
And here is the result.
This music started its life even before its release. Its been used in 2 Hungarian and 1 American movies, in a TV spot against racism shown on all Hungarian TV channels, played on Hungary's unique gypsy radio station and represented on the Rough Guide to Hungary – a compilation by the well-known UK label World Music Network.
YOU can now experience the results of this extraordinary cooperation with this CD.

"Distincltively Hungarian-sounding remixes!" - Simon Broughton, World Music Network, UK "I've already listened to the album and I'm really enthusiastic. I hope that you know, that you have a jewel in your hands." Tobias Maier, Radio Multikulti, World Music Charts Europe

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
