The band's own presentation:
Undoubtedly the appearance of Fía na Roca (It means "Spin in the distaff") was one of the main events in the 90's Galician musical panorama. Their first album ("Fía na roca" - Corda frouxa música), released in march 1993, was received with excelents criticisms and it supposed a touch of freshness in the treatment of traditional music. With a polish sound and surprising arrangements, tradition turn into an element to be mixed with own ideas and the more diverse influences, showing an unmistakable style with a strong personality.

At this time the wishes of Xosé Ramón Vázquez and Xabier Bueno came true, because they had joined up at the middle of 1990 to start with this new common project. The hard job done from the beginning by these two musicians, culminated in one album where it appeared some of the best performers from the folk, rock, jazz and world music scene. This stylistic diversity, along with the timbrical richness showed in the different compositions, represents one of the main identity symbols of the band, achieving at the same time a coherent final result with a lot of character.

It was this mixture of tradition and modernity, one of the reasons that leads BBC to choose the music of Fía na roca as the soundtrack of the TV program that showed the Galician image to Europe in the 1993 Xacobeo Celebration (Santiago de Compostela's Holy Year).

In the live shows, the band achieves to transmit to the listener all the feeling of their tunes. The goal of music is to attract and move the audience, as during the more melancholic and intimist passages, as in the more lively and exciting. After all these years of concerts performed in Galicia, Spain and Portugal, Fía na roca has obtained a lot of loyal and unconditional fans who appreciate an honest and natural live show, where sensitivity is the main component.

In spring 1997 the band publish their second album ( "Agardando que pase algo/Waiting for something to happen" - Resistencia). It includes as arrangements of traditional tunes, as new compositions of various inspiration, showing a great maturity consequence of the evolution in these years. The appearance of this new record reaffirm Fía na roca like the more innovative and creative band in the Galician folk scene.

Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
