Asteriskos offers a musical repertoire that draws its origin from the ancient ballads of the sicilian school of the XIII century. This band, guided by such a well-known and highly valued musician as Giancarlo Parisi, is the result of the getting together of various sicilian musicians who have been sharing for a long time their experiences in the field of popular music and cultured music. Asteriskos offers a musical repertoire that draws its origin from the ancient ballads of the sicilian school of the XIII century, while also extending to original songs, in an absolutely acoustic style, where the musicians give proof of great technical mastery and virtuosity in the use of their traditional instruments (bagpipe, accordion and tammorra); various musical instruments of the mediterranean area also make their appearance (bendir, cajon, zmarra, friscalettu, etc...).

Il gruppo ASTERISKOS è nato dall’unione di tre musicisti che già da anni hanno condiviso molteplici esperienze nell’ambito della musica sia popolare che di ricerca. Dopo numerose tournees sia in Italia che all’estero con i gruppi Taberna Mylaensis, Tammorra e Parisi Ensemble i tre musicisti hanno decisivo di convogliare il loro percorso in un’unica esperienza musicale in cui i diversi stili affrontati vengono sintetizzati in unico progetto esecutivo.

L’ ASTERISKOS (oggetto sacro del rito greco, diffuso soprattutto nella Sicilia nord-orientale, che serviva a sostenere il velo sopra il pane sacro) propone un repertorio musicale che trae le sue origini dalle antiche ballate della scuola siciliana del ‘200 fino a giungere a brani originali, in chiave rigorosamente acustica, in cui gli esecutori del gruppo, oltre a dare prova di grande competenza e virtuosismo strumentale sui loro strumenti principali (zampogna a paro cromatica, tamburello, fisarmonica, chitarra classica), utilizzano diversi e svariati strumenti musicali siciliani e dell’area mediterranea (friscalettu, zammaruni, tammorra, cajon, brogna etc.). Il tutto all’insegna di uno spettacolo vario e accattivante in cui si alternano brani strumentali a brani cantati in coro o da solista.
