The Jew's Harp World
16.99

Traditional as well as modern Jew's harp music from around the world. Svein Westad presents an interesting mix of cultures that share a common instrument, and together with John Wright, Trân Quang Hai and Leo Tadagawa he exposes the possibilities of the instrument, from Setesdal in Norway on to India, China, Vietnam, England, Siberia, Japan and Indonesia. The presentations include a lot of solo performances, but there are also examples of innovative ensemble playing between several Jew's harps and between the Jew's harp and instruments such as the Hardanger fiddle, the Norwegian zither, cither and Indian tablas and singers. Complete notes in Norwegian and English.

Tadagawa Japan

"Even if the Jew's Harp mostly is used as a solo instrument, Westad has by stroke of genius invited both players and dancers on the recording. – This contributes to make the music more sensual in a way I have never heard on a recording before. This lifts the recording and adds a more dynamic overall picture.... This album is an important folk musical document over a rich Norwegian and International Jews Harp tradition." - Klassekampen – (Norway)

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
