"But the best of Ura is pure Oskorri. It's the ancient ode to spring "Udabarriko Lora Ederra," with its driving electric guitar, lively fiddle, insistent bagpipes and pounding txalparta as it weaves between folk, rock and jazz. It's lush ballads like "Ingrat Baten Maitatzeak," with gentle vocals and a simple guitar line punctuated by flutes, fiddles and frame drums. It's song after song that is tempered by a deep love of tradition but driven by the irresistible urge to be fresh, to make sure the tradition is never locked in a museum or relegated to a library basement." - CF (RootsWorld)

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.

More about Oskorri form the record label:

OSKORRI is the unquestionable father, pioneer and forerunner of folk music from the Iberian Pensinsula, and the charismatic and historical representative of Basque music. Throughout its 27 years together and 23 records to date, OSKORRI has always shown an obvious universal love of music, while spreading its modern version of Basque music the world over. Years of experience combined with an intense and passionate dedication to their profession, have given the group a deep-rooted optimistic and innovative view of music, resulting in the intuitive creation of beautiful and eternal sounds, breathtaking melodies, evocative worlds, strong signs of identity and exceptional sources of happiness born to be shared with elegance, delicacy and enormous humanity with their always responsive and unconditional audiences.

URA (Water) is the title of this latest recording and is, we think, one of the best, if not the best album ever recorded by the group during its long and intensive career. URA is a happy work; it is contemporary traditional music overflowing with personality and colour that sets the feet tapping and conjures up a moist, green aroma. It is intense, tender, wild, traditional and exciting. URA is the infinite and multicoloured sea bordered with the frothy waves that refreshingly wash over the beaches of our feelings, the coasts of our historical memory, the littoral of our musical identity. OSKORRI¹s new record marks a high point in their work published to date, not only with respect to the ELKARLANEAN catalogue, but to all Basque musical releases in general.

URA is an important challenge for the group, a testimony of unqualified maturity and stability 14 suggestive new songs where impeccable performance and production culminate in a work as attractive as it is competitive. OSKORRI, its new managers, KAP, and its record label, ELKARLANEAN, have all come together on this work with the aim of opening doors and windows to new trends, of uniting ideas and musical concepts, thus consolidating the group¹s presence and popularity in the Basque Country, while breaking moulds, casting frontiers and labels aside and getting through to a wider public and market. If the compositions included in URA present an extraordinary quality from the very moment of their creation, the important and decisive presence of the guest musicians who lent their collaboration to the record only serve to reinforce this idea. Here we have to highlight the commitment and warmth of KEPA JUNKERA¹s contribution as co-producer of the work, and the excellent and brilliant contribution of the musicians he himself recommended Glen Velez, Pedro Estevan, Faltriqueira, Ivo Papasov, Michel Bordeleau (La Bottine Souriante), Frederic Gaillardot, Javier Texedor, Oreka TX, Mixel Etxekopar, etc. URA is basically a melting-pot of fundamental emotions guided by deep creative intuition and contrasting experiences, a mixture that cannot but give the recording a direct, fresh and expressive feeling. Oskorri hasn¹t finished surprising us yet.
